I have been a daughter and a sister, a wife and mother and now a grandmother.

All of these have been VERY important to me and are still.

Today, I am thinking about Christmas and all the dumb issues concerning it. I am thinking about the song, Who Am I by Casting Crowns.

To me, Christmas is and will always be a day of celebration because it is when our Creator sent His Son Jesus to this rotten earth. A place full of evil and violence. Why would God do that?

I have done a lot of sinful things in my life for which I am ashamed. The guilt sometimes is difficult to bear. Where do I go to get relief for all of that sin? I go to my Savior, Jesus Christ. The One who left a perfect Heaven and came to a decayed planet Earth. No home for Mary and Joseph, no baby gifts from family and friends. A dirty stable that would soon be filled with great joy. Visitors would come, in time, to bring gifts and to gaze with awe and wonder at the new King.

Who Am I? I am a child of God. The One who created the world knows my name and loves me. Loves me and loves you. He is Good and He is Love. No matter what you have done in your life, God has seen it all and it is time for you to be reconciled with your Creator.

I am Blessed. My sins have been forgiven for all eternity. When I die I will go to be with my Heavenly Father. Jesus paid the price for my sins and your sins.

I pray, this Christmas, that you will see your worth in God's eyes.

Receive Jesus as your Savior today. He promises PEACE.

Gee, aren't our soldiers the ones fighting for our freedom? Shouldn't they have a say in our elections? Who dropped the ball? What should be done?

Some people should have trouble sleeping at night for not putting out Military first when it comes to voting.

Am I the only one who finds this disgraceful?

Shame on those responsible for being so irresponsible! 

For years now, America's love affair with celebrity has puzzled me. I just plain don't get it. I'm certain it's because I just don't care. I don't care how much weight Valarie or Kirsty have gained. I don't care how they take the weight off or, five years later, how they have kept it off. I don't care what Jennifer says about motherhood or that she thinks George W. Bush is a word I won't use.

Celebrities are supposed to entertain us and athletes work to win. What they do in their private lives doesn't interest me, unless they murder their ex-wife and her friend. That's right. Her friend, nothing more than a friend.

I hate that celebrity news has crept into the regular news. Of course that's because it sells and that's unfortunate.

A young girl, unhappy with her hair, sees a commercial for shampoo. A shampoo that Beyonce suppossidly uses. Off to the drug store to buy that shampoo and the shampoo maker makes more money and so does Beyonce. Then that same young girl envies Beyonce's wealth and ends up angry that Beyonce has more money than she knows what to do with. It never ends. It fosters greed and jealously.

The few times that I have watched the entertainment shows, I can't help but think, what a strange way to make a living. Gossip and rumors and an occasional bit of good news. The Travoltas are expecting again. The people on these shows actually make money. 

I know I am in the minoriaty here. I also think that's a shame.

I try to mind my own business and wish Americans would do that also!

As you got older you learned more rules. Sports and driving rules. 50 miles an hour speed limit. Buses, this lane only, don't drive drunk, make a siginal to change lanes.

You learned more rules when you went to work.

Rules are usually for your safety and for those around you. When rules are broken, we usually get into trouble. Drunk driving has caused the death of thousands of people, especially in the USA.  MADD has made a huge dent in the prosecution of drunk drivers, those who didn't follow the rules.

Now America has a huge problem with illegals in our country. The main blame falls on those who hire illegals. Big corporations and small businesses. It is against the law to hire them but continues because companies don't have to pay illegals the same as they do American citizens. Most illegals don't pay taxes but send millions of dollars back to thier home country. Companies who refuse to hire illegals are at a disadvantage.

Because so many are willing to break the rules, the USA is having mounting problems and it needs to stop.

I do understand why most illegals come to America for a better life but we can't take everyone in. My neighbors are from the former Soviet Union and could have come here legally years ago but they wanted to do the right thing. After the Soviet Union broke up, they feared for their lives everyday. They waited 9 years to come here legally. How is it fair that when they followed the rules and waited that so many can come here illegally by just crossing our border or staying for a limited visit? We don't even know how many people are here illegally, who they are or where they are.

Has America turned it's back on following the rules and obeying the law? You decide.

I say Art inteviewed once and he was asked what his favorite answer from the children was. Here it is.

Art. "Steve, you look so very sad. What's wrong?"

Steve. "My dog died yesterday."

Art. "I'm so sorry about your dog but I'm sure he is up in heaven with God."

Steve got this strange look on his face and said "Why would God want a dead dog?"

Art Linkletter died today at the age of 97. He was a fine Christian man who was always positive and made America laugh.

May he rest in peace.

In a press conference today, in a crowd of veterans, he said he had misspoke and takes full responsible for his actions. Many in the audiance applauded. I repeat. Many in the audiance applauded!  Applauded him for what? For lying?

What ever happened to the truth? If he had said "I lied about serving in the Vietnam War and I'm sorry. I take full responsibility for my lies" perhaps I could better understand the applause. But no. I misspoke. How does one misspeak about serving in a war? That would be like me saying "I gave birth to a 75 pound elephant last week!" A lie is a lie is a lie.

I believe in forgivness and redemtion when someone is truly contrite but to say that he misspoke is so disturbing. What about the men who actually did serve in Vietnam, many giving their lives? Many of them would like to actually spit in his face now, and few would blame them.

Am I the only one who believes that words are important?

There are no freedoms without those willing to fight for them.

Close the border now. Why they haven't used consertina wire at the top of the wall, like they do on prison fences, is beyond me. Seal the border and fine those businesses and corporations who hire illegals. Big fat fines. No work available, why bother to cross the border?

Not sealing the border reminds me of a couple I know. They have five children of their own and have decided not to have any more. They don't have the patience or the money for more children but they refuse to use birth control. Does that make sense?

Of course, the Democrats and Liberals in the United States want the Hispanic vote and therefore they are reluctant to do anything about our illegal immagration problem.

In the meantime, more will come, more states will go bust and the problem will continue to mushroom.

More babies on the way! What a mess!!!
